This week in reading me and my classmates read a story named ‘Boy on a Bike.’ The story is about a boy name Mac that wanted to cycle the length of the North island with his Dad. He did this beacuse he wanted to raise money for St. Johns Ambulance so they can buy more ambulances. We wrote down what Mac researched before his ride and why it was important.
Socrates was born in Athens in 470 Bc and died 399 BC. He was accused of corrupting the youth of Athens and sentenced to death. He died by drinking hemlock.
Socrates was an ancient philosopher who was famous for contributing to the development of ancient Greek philosophy.
These are some of his quotes:
‘Be kind for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle’
This means to be kind to everyone because you do not know what is happening in their life
‘Wonder is the beginning of wisdom’
This means it is not bad to wonder and ask questions because by wondering and asking questions the more you understand.
